What the Rally Community is saying about SFARS …
- “Being an avid rally fan and competitor, any genuine way to get involved in rallying with a reduced cost is good for new potential competitors as well as the sport itself” This is a unique way to achieve both!”
Brett Middleton, owner/driver and business owner of well known Sydney tuning workshop, MRT Performance: www.MRTrally.com.au
- “In a sport where natural ability alone won’t see you reach the top, I think the Search For A Rally Star program is a fantastic way to help you move up the rallying ladder. SFARS is well thought out, and is bound to be a huge success.”
Peter Whitten, Editor, Australian Rallysport News: www.rallysportnews.com.au
- “I have reviewed your web site and wish to write you a note of encouragement for putting together such a complete program. I wish you every success. Although not appropriate to myself, I trust this program will introduce a number of new people to the sport, well done!!”
Regards, Russell Dixon. www.rallyspeed.com
And from some of the Rally Star hopefuls …
- “In addition to the enclosed questionnaire, I wish to personally thank you for this outstanding opportunity you are providing to all who partake in this wonderful competition .. Good luck to everybody!!
This is just the thing I need to again compete and promote the sport I’ve loved for so long — Providing I win of course !!!
Yes, I realise it’s a long shot but I have so much to offer and most of my ideas have been on file for so long, I can’t wait to utilize all of my knowledge. Thank you once again and I look forward to seeing you soon.”
Kind regards, L.C. – Qld
- “Thank you for this great opportunity. I’m glad somebody has enough passion for rallysport to put in the hard work and make this competition possible. I look forward to meeting you and the team, in what should be a fantastic experience for all involved.”
Yours faithfully, A.R – Qld
- “Hi, my name is (BT). I’ve just turned 20 and I’m your rallystar!! Don’t even hold the competition, I’m your man. Quick background - Grew up on a farm, driving and riding motorbikes from a very young age, (first motorbike 5, first driving when I was 8.) Had a natural talent behind the wheel of a car. Paddock bashed all the time when ever I could. (Ford Falcon 500 series 3 on tree, Datsun 200B) Wanted to be a rally driver, didn’t know much about the sport, started competing when I was 16 firstly in my trusty 200B then in a Gemini, won my junior events and managed to pick up fastest junior in dirt speed series for group six. I more than ever wanted to keep racing but had a H.S.C to do, so couldn’t race continued to drive at home. Family business grew and grew, we had to move for work, I finished school and now run our business for the old folks. Couple of Tafe courses under my belt, (Real Estate, Business Management) saved my pennies and purchased a 1997 WRX Sti import. (WRX my dream car of all time) I always said I was going to get one. Got the car in 2002. Had a few problems in life, got over them, built the car up last year, (all by myself) had the tower to tower roll cage fitted, (which involved the entire dash out, lots of fun) put all my seats etc in. Have been in a few races just Autocrosses at my local club, going pretty good just learning to drive this 4wd thing now, I’ve just had the car out at our old farm recently and have been belting round the paddock like I did years ago and it has helped my driving amazingly. BUT….. I’ve have very limited funds, i’m just at the moment trying to promote myself and push for sponsorship. (Making a dvd and also a little letter like this to accompany) the stock suspension as sure enough had its day and I want to take my driving ability to the next level and then further on so I need funds to get me there. Im all go, go, go i’ve just started my own business (E C Minis) - watch out for us, Motorbikes and accessories and I am looking at our own clothing and apparel line. I’m the most keen determined man in the sport. I will promise you that, I have had that many hurdles thrown at me its not funny, but I will never give up, next year i’m going to be state champ if I can get the backing, then I tell you Dean Herridge, Cody Crocker you better watch out because this boy is coming and i’m not stopping for no one. I’ve got their names on my bonnet just so I can see who im chasing. But my long term goal is to drive in the WRC, and don’t worry I will. One day Subaru will be paying me, to drive for them. Well I guess that should be enough for you to realise how keen I am”.
Thanking You, B.T. - NSW
P.S. My progress … “I have organised with my local newspaper an article on myself, what I’m trying to acheive and mainly the competition. I have put a few proposals together to try and gain sponsorship. I have also been in contact with the local radio station and their promotions. Manager will be getting back to me. I guess it is also helping to advertise the competition.” B.T.
- ” I am writing to you in disbelief at this unbelievable Search For A Rally Star program. Nowadays, rallying is a far cry from what it was years ago. Cars are being developed at such a fast pace and even more and more technology is being introduced everyday in all areas of a rally car, but with this comes a downside “the money factor”. Rallying has become so expensive at every level that it is getting increasingly harder to get involved. That is why your program has greatly appealed to me. From an early age Rallying has been an unrealistic dream for me, from following local rallies and world rallies to waking up to the indescribable feeling when you have dreamt that you were in fact competing alongside the fastest man in rallying Colin McRae. This program is by no means an easy step into Rallying, but will serve as a stepping stone to launch a successful rally career for myself. I posess the right balance of driving capabilty, enthusiasm and self marketing ability but most of all I have great passion for the sport. the day I read this ad I discovered that I may have found a way to come one step closer to reaching a long life dream.”
Yours Hopefully, P.D. – Vic
- “This is too good to be true – My husband’s long life passion is this! The closest he has ever come is pit crew for rally drivers (many times) and playing playstation (a lot). He is an A1 motor mechanic and is always asked to be in pit crews but has never had the opportunity to race, of course he has tested them on the track to see that they are roadworthy but never really had the opportunity with lack of funds etc. Two weeks ago my husband was retrenched from his job and has managed to land himself a job with a mate ….. Furthermore, his 30th birthday is coming up (hence I found this!) I was going to purchase it for his birthday to cheer him up as he has always wanted to do it… I am hopeful you may give him a chance and consider him … I know it sounds like I am begging but it just seems too good to be true”
Regards, C.C. – NSW
- “Hey there, I’ve only just started out , late starter:( I’m 22 and haven’t even been in a proper rally yet! I passed my last OLT but also rolled my little car (datsun 1600) at the same event in September last year. I have been rebuilding since then (up until February) pretty much by myself. I was living and working in Adelaide then. Now I am completing my final semester of my uni degree in Tasmania. I finish in June and will return to Adelaide (after Subaru Safari!) and my job in one of the city’s largest firms. My rally car is also back in Adelaide but not yet complete. I aim to have it ready for the last rally of the season (Autosport cup). Rally has become a passion for me but I have come into it on my own. My folks aren’t the least bit mechanically minded (though my late Grandfather, who I was never able to talk to, used to rally in Scotland!) While being in Adelaide I have been slowly building friends through my car club nd attending and trying to participate in the rallies and other events. The people are amazing and I have had a lot of help from them with my car. My priority when I get back to Adelaide is to buy a house with enough shed space to contain my ambitions! I have been renting and moving regularly since I was 15 (I am a good tenant, justchanging circumstances). Also found out during the last year that many people do not appreciate spare rooms full of tyres and panels and sheds full of cars that don’t go etc. etc. But once I have a place to call my own and be proud of… I want to DRIVE but am doing everything just to get into the sport. I am helping on controls with Targa everyday its down south, and whatever I can get to do for the Safari. I’ve been asked to navigate back in Adelaide and am crazy enough to take them up on the offer when I get back:) I lack experience but did attend a rally driving course in January with the Australian Driving Institute . I was told that once I have my car going and can organise a couple of other people, I can have instruction in my own car. There may not be raw talent and my approach to dealing with stress needs work but the enthusiasm is there. (I swapped my MTB for a 1600 with a blown motor here in Tas, giving one expensive sport for the other and to keep my from going nuts not being able to touch my car back in Adelaide and to teach myself some basic mechanics!!) I WILL GET THERE!!
”
Cheers, E.A. – Tas
P.S “Yeah I am a girl ! Takes a while for people to realise I’m serious, but the advantage is that I do get alot of help once they do:) I’m kind of in no-mans land with close friends though as girls don’t get me as my most animated conversations are to do with cars and my best mates are guys. I wish I had the motivation for my study reseach as I do for learning about the sport:)” E.A
